My Southeast Asia Bucketlist

Bangkok, Thailand – Floating River Market

This bustling, chaotic  city is full of smells and vibrance. Wherever I go, I always want to be as local as possible, immersing myself in a villager’s life rather than a tourist. Imagine buying ingredients on a boat and then going back to your hostel to cook a meal with your friends!

Chengdu, China – Panda Haven

If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with pandas — baby pandas, pandas in general, and panda videos (omg). Chengdu is located in mainland China, however, so I wonder if I’ll actually be able to achieve this one. Nevertheless, I dream of the day I get to hug a baby panda! If it were up to me, I’d have one as a pet 😉

Chiang Mai, Thailand – Elephant Jungle Sanctuary

Okay, so I realize that most of my bucket list is in Thailand, but I do want to endorse this tourist business. Rather than riding elephants, go to a sanctuary! Whether it may be for that insta op or for these amazing creatures, head over to bond with mother nature.

Bali, Indonesia – Tegalalang

While this is a very specific photo, I’m hoping to have the opportunity to hike and end up in scenic serendipity places like this. Last summer, I went to the Dominican Republic and fell in love with nature all over again. Sometimes you just need a grounded (haha, get it) goal even if it isn’t your typical, extravagant bucket lister.

Huairou, China – The Great Wall of China

This one is pretty much self-explanatory, but I can’t go to China without checking off one of the seven wonders of the world. If I do get the chance to scale these walls, I’m hoping to film a youtube video of getting strangers to dance 😉

Japan – Nabana No Sato Winter Illumination

Being from Austin, TX this reminded me of the Trail of Lights during the winter festivities. Though I’m unsure if this exhibit will be up over the summer, I want to visit Tokyo or Kyoto for its culture and art. I’ve heard so many great things about Japan, I’m so glad it’s the closest to Korea! Also, I’m most looking forward to simply hugging a cherry blossom tree.

Chiang Rai, Thailand – Wat Rong Khun White Temple

Yet another bucket lister in Thailand is this s t u n n i n g temple. Of course to be more general, I just want to visit various temples in Asia due to the history, atmosphere, and architecture that I can gain from my experience.

Bagan, Myanmar – Hot air balloon

An impressive archaeological zone, this location is probably the highlight of this list. Bagan in Myanmar covers an area of about 67 square kilometres and is home to over 2000 temples! Anyone want to join me 🙂

Gangnam, South Korea – Starfield Library

Let me know if the states has anything remotely close to this . . . if not, catch me hundred pages deep buried under all this treasure!!

IMG_1807

Taipei, Taiwan – Taipei 101

The tallest tower in Asia stands to be 57.2 m or 188 ft.

Vietnam – Halong Bay

Being a half Vietnamese, there’s so much that I want to see in Vietnam and learn about my people. This iconic location has caught my eye multiple times, it seems like something straight out of a postcard. I would love to lay on a boat and just float through this bay.

That’s all I have for now, but I’m sure I am missing so many other great locations! If you have any suggestions let me know 🙂

I’ll be traveling to Taipei –> Seoul –> Tokyo –> Thailand and anywhere in between! Thanks for reading and joining me on my journey.
